Pola Penggunaan Obat Antikonvulsan pada Pasien Gangguan Kejiwaan di Rumah Sakit Jiwa Daerah Atma Husada Mahakam Samarinda

Anticonvulsants are drugs that developed to inhibit the spread of seizures in the brain by suppressing rapid and excessive neuron firing. Usually, anticonvulsants are used by psychiatric patients who experience seizures, difficulty sleeping, and excessive anxiety. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of anticonvulsant drug use in psychiatric patients and determine the characteristics of patients who received anticonvulsant therapy in the January-December 2018 period. This type of study wasnon-experimental with a retrospective method of medical record records of 52 outpatients and outpatients. hospitalization with a diagnosis of psychiatric disorders namely dementia, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. The results showed that the characteristics of patients with female sex (65.38%), ages 26-35 years (25%), and not working (78.84%) more easy to psychiatric disorders. While the pattern of drugs used at Atma Husada Mahakam Mental Hospital in Samarinda is benzodiazepines (84.61%), valproic acid (5.76%), and hydantoins (1.92%).
